It’s time to get baking!

We are delighted to launch our fabulous half term competition for all ages with some fabulous prizes including two signed Reading FC shirts, two signed Reading FC footballs and four NSPA Raspberry and Pomegranate hampers!

Since you all love baking, our Chef has shared his best sugar cookie recipe. To enter all you need to do is bake a batch of cookies and decorate them with a spring theme. Send a photo of your fabulous cookies to [email protected] by 21^st February. Our chefs will judge the cookies for creativity, originality and overall impression and winners will be able to choose their prize on a first come, first served basis!

Ingredients:

400g plain flour
200g unsalted butter
200g caster sugar
1 egg

Step 1

Cream the butter and sugar then beat in the egg.

Step 2

Add the flour and mix until the dough comes together.

Step 3

Wrap in film and chill for 1 hour.

Step 4

Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut out your cookies using cutters.

Step 5

Place the cookies on a lined baking tray and bake for 14 mins at 170C until golden around the edges.

Step 6

Cool on a wire rack before decorating.
