Strength & Flexibility for Golfers
It’s easy to assume that in order to improve your golf game you must invest in better equipment or sign up for coaching. However, many issues with your game can be resolved by addressing your body’s physical limitations.
Gym Workout
To achieve a consistent swing or to drive the ball further your body needs a solid foundation. A programme of exercises focusing on posture, mobility and rotation, core stability and power will drastically improve your game helping you to play consistently from the first to the last hole. These exercises will also decrease the risk of fatigue and injury.
The Wellness Team have put together a video of exercises to support your game. Complete 2 circuits of the exercises 2-3 times a week, alongside regular swing and accuracy training at the driving range.
On the course
Don’t underestimate the importance of a proper warm up. A gentle pre-game workout will increase your heart rate and increase blood flow to the major muscle groups. The warm up exercises put together by the Wellness Team will help improve your range of motion and reduce your risk of injuries.
Post-game you will want to reduce the risk of muscle soreness and stiffness. Follow the stretches put together by the Wellness Team to increase circulation to the joints and relax the muscles.
