London Irish
Since reopening we have allowed free access to our Dead Sea Salt Therapy Pool. This pool is especially beneficial for those suffering from painful joints, sports related injuries or reduced mobility. As you float upright, supported by the warm salt water, you will be able to perform gentle movements with ease, in a relaxing environment.
Did you know that the Dead Sea Salt pool is used by London Irish and Reading FC on a regular basis for their rehabilitation and recovery sessions? Read on to discover why this pool is especially beneficial to the players.
London Irish players have found great benefits from using the dead sea salt pool and facilities at Nirvana to aid recovery between games and for rehabilitation from long term injuries. The ability to offload weightbearing joints in the salt water allows us to perform exercises earlier in rehabilitation than would be possible on land. Maintaining muscle activation and movement patterns through exercises such as deep water running is vital in restoring optimal function throughout the players’ journey back to full fitness. The dead sea salt pool at Nirvana provides an entirely unique rehabilitation environment combining the traditional benefits of hydrotherapy with floatation. Our physiotherapists can use the properties of the salt pool to add resistance and difficulty to movements or to offload injured limbs. The versatility of the pool is fantastic and can provide a challenging rehabilitation session as well as a space for physical and mental relaxation which is key for professional athletes.

Having access to the facility has been amazing for us. Not only for rest and relaxation, but also the many elements of performance recovery available here which are invaluable to us in preparation for the next game.

As a professional rugby player, Nirvana is an amazing place for my post game recovery. I love using the Hydrotherapy pool and the dead sea salt pool for mobility. It’s such a relaxing place and it’s amazing to chill and have some time to myself.
