London Irish are regular users of our Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool and health facilities. We caught up with their physio Paula to find out why they love our facilities.
Our powerful forward players are involved in lots of contact during a game and find it very useful to come to the spa on their midweek day off between training sessions. They perform stretches in the Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool to soothe their neck, back and shoulders. The players find the pool speeds up their recovery and they feel fresher and less sore for their next session.
Due to the high impact nature of the game, rugby players regularly sustain injuries, quadricep haematomas (dead leg) are common. Fortunately, the players report that the combined use of the Hydrotherapy pool and Dead Sea Salt Therapy pool really speeds up the recovery from these injuries.
In addition to the pools, the players benefit from contrast therapy in the Thermal Suite. The players find alternating between the hot sauna and the cold plunge pools really helps with muscle soreness.
As a club we are delighted to be able to use Nirvana Spa to support the welfare of our players and that includes their mental health. The players relish the opportunity to relax and switch off, this has been especially important over the last season with tightly scheduled fixtures.
