New Year, New Glow
Spa club member, Jill, reviews one of our free skincare workshops
Feeling stuck in a skincare routine that was more about old habits, I thought that my complexion might benefit from some expert tips and tricks!
My daughter and I chose the Decléor ‘New Year, New Glow’ workshop which promised to run through a routine that would rehydrate and refresh our skin while protecting it against the elements.
Sarah, our beauty therapist, was lovely and immediately put us at ease as she introduced us to the brand, which is known for its natural, essential oil-based skincare.
“To begin with, we both gave a brief overview of our existing skincare routines and highlighted any issues that were bothering us, and from then on Sarah tailored her product recommendations accordingly.”
The session was very well-structured, running through each product in the order it should be used as part of a daily skincare routine. With mirrors and wipes in front of us, we could sample everything on our skin and note down the items we liked in a product booklet. We started off with cleansing and toning, followed by a 1-minute cream face mask, skin oil, moisturiser, eye cream and finally, night balm.
“The workshop was fun, unhurried and relaxed with Sarah pausing regularly to share expert tricks and advice”
A great tip of Sarah’s was to soak cotton wool squares in Micellar Water and keep them in a sealed container for instant travel face wipes. Genius! Others included using a mask on your skin before coming to the spa to stop skin drying out, and using the nourishing and protecting Decléor night balm as an effective winter lip balm.
The Decléor products themselves were divine; lightweight and clean feeling. Packed full of botanicals, I’d buy them for their amazing scent alone! Sarah explained how the brand uses a high percentage of active ingredients in the products, which means they give lasting results compared to many high street brands.
“One of my favourite products was definitely the Aromessence Neroli Amara Hydrating Oil Serum. Apparently, oils are proven to sink much deeper into the skin and my skin felt extremely nourished afterwards. Knowing it was targeting my dehydrated skin and making it glow, definitely gave it first prize!”
One of the best things about the workshop was the lack of any awkward sales pitch at the end. After making sure we’d noted down all the items we’d sampled, there was no pressure from Sarah to buy anything. If you did want to, you could order products at any point during your visit and collect them in a gift bag from reception as you left. But yes, I have to say, that with a great gift offer running and my skin glowing, I couldn’t resist ordering a couple of my favourite products!
