How far do you stretch?
Our Wellness Coaches have come up with the perfect stretch challenge to show just how easy it is to make a life-changing difference. Our easy six-week Stretch Challenge is aimed to help improve your everyday mobility whilst instilling new habits and highlighting the importance of daily stretching.
The older we get the harder it becomes to bend down to tie a shoelace, walk up a flight of stairs or even just get up from a low seat. We’re here to tell you that you can easily reverse this natural regression and retain your flexibility.
So if you don’t like feeling stiff and are struggling to reach your feet, it’s time to make a change. The first step is to join us for our easy Stretch Challenge.
If your muscles are not regularly stretched (beyond the normal range for everyday activities), they start to become inflexible and tight. As the muscles tighten, they are less able to complete the movements they were designed for. Tight muscles can cause undue strain on your joints and in some cases pain. This means that, without regular stretching exercises, you will begin to lose your ability to move freely, even if you are regularly active.
We’ve devised a challenge that is simple and easy to complete. To start with we will measure how far you can stretch in a sit and reach test at the Wellness Suite. Then we’ll go through our Stretch Programme with you. We suggest using our video to do these stretches at home [below], hold each stretch for 30 seconds and repeat to stretch both sides of the body. You just need to practice the stretches regularly over a six to eight week period then, come back to the Wellness Suite and we’ll check your progress by retesting your sit and reach ability.
