The ultimate facial for dry Winter skin

The cold weather had left my skin feeling dry, lacklustre and prone to break outs. Like many people, I find the combination of harsh central heating, frequent temperature changes (and a little festive overindulgence…) results in a complexion that is more grey than glowing.
I chose Nirvana Spa’s Black Diamond facial as it looked like the ultimate reboot for my tired skin. My lovely therapist Emma used a selection of luxurious Germaine de Capuccini vitamin-based skincare products specifically designed to exfoliate, revitalise and brighten.
My 65-minute treatment began with a warm Pinda pressure point ritual that left me feeling blissfully relaxed before moving on to an eye and skin cleanse; toner and a menthol exfoliating facial scrub that removes dead skin cells to leave the skin fresh and clear.
Next a serum was massaged into my skin before a mineral-rich face mask containing crushed diamonds was applied! (in fact, my skin sparkled subtly in the sunlight for the rest of the day!) With a light, mousse-like texture, the mask gently exfoliates during application, resulting in a luminous, healthy glow that genuinely lasted for days afterwards.
While the face mask was working its magic, I nearly drifted off to sleep as Emma gently massaged my scalp, shoulder, neck and arms. Then a hydrating moisturiser was applied that left my skin feeling plumped and supple. This incredibly indulgent facial finished with warm towel neck stretches and scent inhalation. Totally dreamy.
After my treatment, I took Emma’s advice and rested on the heated ceramic loungers in the beautiful Crystal Treatment Suite with a herbal tea. By not rushing off but instead taking the time to enjoy a moment of calm under the magnificent quartz crystal, it was the perfect end to this luxurious experience.
I felt wonderfully relaxed for the rest of the day but the best thing about the Black Diamond facial was the noticeable effect on my skin. It felt deeply clean, clear and dewy and the effects lasted for days. In fact, I even found I needed to wear less make up for the week after the treatment. It was perfect way to put a spring back in my step this winter.
