In the spirit of World Beer Day, we wanted to highlight Drynks who provide some of our delicious spa beverages. We asked them to answer some questions about their Smashed range and give us their top recommendations!
Tell us about yourself and what inspired Alcohol Free Drynks?
Drynks Unlimited is the only British independent alcohol free brewer of beer, lager and cider. The business was founded by ex-Halewood marketing director and drinks industry expert, Richard Clark. It all started in the 90s when Richard was working as a sales manager for Bass, Molson Corrs and Whitbread Brewers. Long days of driving between pubs in the North West, he wandered into pubs looking for decent alcohol free alternatives but he was always left frustrated.
It sparked an idea which burned inside him ever since…what do you drink when you’re not drinking? This idea brewed for about 20 years until he finally left his high profile job to begin a pilgrimage to create the holy grail of alcohol-free drinks – a 0% drink that looks, acts, smells and tastes just like its alcoholic equivalent.

How do you make your alcohol-free beer?
We pride ourselves on our innovation in this sector and the methods that we use to make our drinks and we are proud to say that we are the only British independent alcohol free brewer of beer, lager and cider. Drynks Unlimited invested over £1 million into pioneering a completely alcohol free brewery in Manchester, making it the only British drinks business that have invested in this incredible technology.
We take full strength British beers (around 5% abv) and using our state-of-the-art Cool Vacuum Distillation (CVD) equipment, we gently distil our base beers to remove the alcohol. Treating our drinks with respect throughout the whole distillery process is what results in such a delicious multi-award winning product.
Is there a difference between low-alcohol and alcohol-free drinks?
To be truly alcohol free, we have to produce our products to a specification of less than 0.05% ABV. Technologically this is not an easy task, that’s why you’ll see many 0.5% products on the market. Only products less than 0.05% ABV are alcohol free.
