Taking up the challenge
A member’s story
Have you spotted Kevin Jones? He’s the member clocking up so many miles on the bikes!
Considered crazy by his family for taking up his latest ambitious cycle event, Kevin plans to cycle the 970 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats in just 9 days!
Kevin recognises the key to achieving his goal is not just to spend hours peddling; with the help of Wellness Coach Ginny he has adopted a three-pronged approach, focusing on training, nutrition and recovery. As an ex RAF Tornado Fast Jet Navigator, Kevin has created a diagram to illustrate how each component contributes to his success (click to enlarge).
Kevin works with the Wellness coaches during his one to one sessions to build his training programme and manage his nutritional needs.
Nirvana Spa provides numerous opportunities for active recovery.
Kevin attends both Rock n’ Roller and Stretch and Flex classes. He benefits from the contrast therapy in the thermal suite and probably his favourite of all – relaxing in the surf pool after a tough workout!
Kevin is motivated by two key goals, firstly to sustain his health and wellness, particularly as he has a family history of heart disease. Secondly and critically his hopes to raise money for the Prince’s Trust and the RAF Benevolent Fund; charities which, Kevin has seen firsthand, help individuals and families cope in extremely difficult circumstances.
We will be following Kevin’s training journey on social media.
Everyone can join in
Kevin and Ginny firmly believe that challenges provide the inspiration and the motivation to keep us pushing ourselves!
